First and foremost, let it never be said that I am not the "mix-mistress of kypeology"......with that said, because I was inspired by Kapgars Lyrical Challenge and the need to bring on the levity after the heaviness of the last few days not only in my life but also in dealing with the remembrance of 9/11, I too am having a musical challenge. However, mine will be much different than his for you see, much like funkalicious Sir Kapgar, I am fond of using lyrics as the titles of my posts, however I don't think I could take any suggestions because well....let's just "pretend" that I am strong-willed and do things my own way. However, what I *am* going to do is use a song lyric every day for a month from here on out; anyone who wants to participate is able to do so at any time. The rules are simple; if you have a comment to my post, post it as regular.
HOWEVER if you wanna play the lyrics game and take a guess at "Who Sang Snackie's Tune?" then email me the name of the song and artist from whom I kyped my prosewithout looking it up!) and I will tally up how many correct guesses each person has at the end of one month*.
The winner will receive a swank care package from "The OC" which will be faboo, I promise cause I don't do crappy prezzies. And you do not have to be the first to answer it; you just need to answer it correctly! Complicated? No. Easy? Depends on who you are. Using Google to find the answers? Not cool, man...not cool. Have I lost my freaking mind? No, I am just bored and want to play, so there :p. Today's song is one that has not been released quite yet but is by one of my favorite bands....if you know it, send the emails post haste, but if not then today you get a freebie....if you follow links outside of this blog, you may find your answer. Ooooh, all the sudden I am like History's Mysteries and shit.
Moving on.....I have nothing else but fluff to talk about really because uhm, yesterday was a day that was quiet as it should have been. I have to admit something horrible though; I was in the grocery store and after they got done with about four medleys of patriotic music, this poppy-sensation song came on that I think I had heard before and I was singing along and loving it......so when I got home, I Googled the lyrics and found out that the song was "Behind These Hazel Eyes" by Kelly Clarkson. Okay dayumn, that is like the third Kelly Clarkson song that I have heard and downloaded just from hearing it at the dentist or grocery store...so I guess what I am trying to admit is, "Hi, I am Hilly and I actually like Kelly Clarkson.". But before I hang my head in shame, I ask you this....are there any artists that you are somewhat hesitant to admit to liking? Sharing is caring and we all could use a pick-me-up today, kit-kats!
Anyway, I will make a little button for my challenge later today when I am in the mood to sit here longer so that everyone can just click on it and go back to this post to remember the rules. Also, my email is stage right, under the "about me" section of my bloggage.
Make Me Thrill As Only You Know How Kisses,
Me
*Just so no one thinks Karl has an advantage, I won't use most of the stuff we listened to while cruising the PCH!
I have plenty of shame bands. I love Aqua. They make such over-the-top, sugary, pop/dance music that they're like a parody of themselves and I love it. I also love Ace of Base and have all their albums and a mix of B-Sides. Hmmm...I also like Roxette, but I'm not really ashamed of that.

I'm not ashamed of any of the music I listen to. Well, some it's a little iffy...I had a small love affair with Britney back in the day...but I listen to what makes me happy. So, if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to hook up to my iPod, thanks. :0)
I'm excited about Justin Timberlake's new CD. I still listen to LOTS of 80's music like Warrent, Def Leppard, Poison, Bon Jovi, Debbie Gibson, Belinda Carlysle, Heart. Been listening to my share of country lately and I can't get "Highway Man" out of my head lately!
Geez, I like about everything...except techno.

I used to be embarrassed to admit what I like. Since having kids, cancer, and mainly just realizing life is way too short I don't worry about what other people think of me so much. If I like something now, I will admit it no matter how dumb I think it is. I range from Danzing, Metallica, Sublime, Click Five, to Laurie Berkner depending on what kind of mood I am in. I bought Laurie Berkner for my son (it's kids music) but I turn it on before he wakes up sometimes. My daughter listens to Hilary Duff and Ashley Simpson and I don't turn them off when she leaves the room. So I'm not very cool, whatever.

I forgot to add that two of my new favorites are from Rockstar Supernova. Toby (who I didn't even notice in the beginning) and Magni who I have a not so secret crush on because he seems like such a great guy (from what they show us of him on tv anyway)

For some reason, the game show scene in The Lemon Sisters comes to mind...
I so want to be Zack Hexum's fluffer!
That's all!

PQ - I actually like Ace of Base too; I always kid around when we are driving and say things like "I Saw The Signs" but my favorite is "All That She Wants Is Another Baby" for some odd reson.
Les - I am still a HUGE Belinda fan; in fact I was looking at my Last FM stats and she is like the number two artist I listen too, woops. Also, love Guns N Roses.
Tori - I totally agree with you about who cares if you are cool...I just cannot believe that I like Kelly Clarkson mostly because I never dig on what is trendy cause I am so "damn the man" like that....but I will say that cool is as cool does, meaning cool is what you make of it and who cares anyway, right? With that said, uhm Metallica is still one of my fave bands....oooh James Hettfield, come to momma ;).
X - You are too much, sugah boog!

Well, I have many questionable artists, as you know. Rick Springfield is definitely one of them, and I'm going to see him in concert in about 10 days. I don't care who knows it, either, provided they're only the people that reside on your blog and they don't tell anybody else. Anywhere.
Posted by: Karl | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 01:34 PM
Kelly Clarkson? Nothing wrong with that. You want shame? You want shame?
Sigh...
In the mid 80's I had everything by BOTH Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.
I also had *sob* Stacy Q.
And...(deep breath) Samantha Fox.
I have just stripped myself naked on your blog, shaved my body with a cheese grater, and rolled around in salt and vinegar potato chips!
Are you HAPPY????
Posted by: Mr. Fabulous | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 02:53 PM
K-Fed - *snort*.....I don't think Rick Springfield is questionable, FFS. I mean, we are like our parents were....when we used to go "ewwwww" at the mere thought of Frank Sinatra. Now, not only do we go back to our 80's musical roots but my ASS has Frank on my iTunes, LOL.
Mr. Fab - You are gonna have to do a lot better than that to get cheese-grater like sympathy from me, mister. Who didn't like Tiffany and Debbie in the 80's? Now if you are pressing play on your casette player each morning and Tiffany is playing while you dance in your boxers, then we can talk about help for you. And Samantha Fox was rad for her time! (notice I have nothing cool to say about Stacy Q, ahem).

I know every word to every song on George Michael's greatest work of his oeuvre, "Faith".
I also happen to like almost every Kelly Clarkson song I've heard on the radio, but haven't gotten to the point of Downloading or buying anything.
Other things I shamelessly love defiant against all mockery?: The soundtrack to Xanadu and Funny Girl, Ultimate Manilow - greatest greatest hits album. Neil Diamond - Love at the Greek, an all time classic. MeatLoaf's Bat Out of Hell (I sing along at the top of my lungs to the horror of my unofficial stepchildren) and the Humpty Dance by Digital Underground.
Posted by: LauraBora from Bufadora | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 04:33 PM
Lora Bora - OMG, my sister and I burst into Xanadu the last time I went to visit her. I don't think it was the theme song but that Big Band meets ELO song..."whenever you're away from me, wherever I gooooo". Man, every day after school we would watch a BetaMax of Grease and Xanadu...shit, now I have to download it, thanks ;).
Posted by: Hilly | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 04:36 PM
I respectfully disagree. If I was a GIRL it would have been normal for me to own Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. But as a male in my early 20s? Hmm...
Shall we throw Wilson Phillips into the mix?
Wait. Why am I arguing that I'm NOT cool?
Are you a witch?
Posted by: Mr. Fabulous | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 04:44 PM
Hrm, been called a bitch many times, but maybe I am a witch and none of you know it ;).
It's okay...you're in love...that's the way...it should be...and I want you to be happy!

Meatloaf...Bat out of Hell (hell, I've even got a Meatloaf Christmas tree ornament from a century ago!)
The Beatles (oops, is my age showing again?)...I have every Beatles DVD made, a few 45 classics (one very rare John and Yoko 45 ... does anyone but me know what a 45 is?), every Beatles CD made, then of course there are the individual efforts of each of them, plus about 30 different books written by and about the Beatles. Finally, I have a sterling silver ring designed by Yoko using John's earlier art drawings.
TMI? Yup.
Then there's Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young; Jefferson Airplane; Madonna (early); Stevie Wonder; Billy Joel; Aerosmith; Led Zepplin.
I'm sure there are more. But I don't want to bore you!
Posted by: Javajabber | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 05:20 PM
I laughed out loud at Tori's comment...I too am guilty of jamming with the Laurie Berkner band..who knew that music made for toddlers could make me so cheery and just want to get up and dance, hehe.
My favs: Victor Vito, Telephone,We Are the Dinosaurs & I'm a mess
I am also in the "not cool" club, but I do think the best way to become cool is by not caring if your cool..in some weird way it turns the tides on coolness.
Did I just say "cool" 4 times in one sentence? My bad.
Posted by: Glenda | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 06:27 PM
ummm....Jessica Simpson...her new CD is really, really good if you want something upbeat and fun!!!!
Posted by: duenneschen | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 06:58 PM
JJ - I don't think any of that is embarassing, except maybe Meat Loaf but then again, my husband would totally disagree!
Glenda - I have no idea what you are talking about however I do know all of the songs to the Veggie Tales series and I don't even have kids, so um yeah.
D - Oh my ;).
Posted by: Hilly | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 07:10 PM
kelly clarkson is not embarrassing. i repeat, not embarassing.
carrie underwood, now she's embarrassing.
Posted by: ms. sizzle | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 07:54 PM
I like Kelly Clarkson too. I didn't want to admit it at first. I downloaded her whole CD and I love the whole thing (the newer one.)
I also love Ashlee Simpson's music, and I can't help it.
Those are the only ones that embarrass me though. :)

Oops, hit the button too soon.
Wanted to say thanks for your comment on my post :) I didn't know if you were still reading mine. I love that you do :) I look up to you in a big way!!!
Whoo hoo, carrots!!

I have nothing to hide, but I do have something to defend.
Stacey Q was actually SSQ who did a song for Return if the Living Dead, and Two of Hearts was awesome!
I also own Samantha Fox on vinyl.
I revel in my uncoolness! Give me Roxette, Juice Newton, hair metal, or just about anything else and I am fine.
Posted by: francesdanger | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 08:34 PM
Sizz - *hides*....I have that one song of hers downloaded....Some Hearts or something like that.
Frances - Just cause I never liked Stacey Q. doesn't mean she was never cool to some...hell, people look at me funny cause I still love Dr. Dre.
Christie - of course I always read your stuff...I don't always comment if I am rushed for time, but I read. And that is really sweet of you to say, seriously.

My worst? I'm morbidly fascinated by The Wiggles. Not a clue why I find them appealing.
I watched "Kids Incorporated" (K-I-D-S!) every day, and still have Martika's solo cassette somewhere.
I still love the video for "Cold-Hearted Snake."
Posted by: SJ | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 09:16 PM
#1 most embarassing song out of 2462 in the collection currently:
Hanson - Mmm Bop
There may be something wrong with me. It's not Electronica, Trance, Breakbeat, or Downtempt. WTF~
Posted by: Mr. Snackie | Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 02:05 AM
I will admit to having way too much ABBA on my pod. I can't help that it cracks me up.
And Stacey Q can't hold a candle to Samantha Fox in terms of sheer 80's badness/goodness. Because I just want to have some fun.
Posted by: t2ed | Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 05:07 AM
I have no shame. NONE. I love it all...girl, you and I both like L'Trimm, FFS.
Love Abba, Air Supply (tear-fest), still love Night-freakin' Ranger, WINGER (hahhahaha...yes, that one ballad, I just adore), Dokken, Run DMC, old Barry Manilow, LOVE LOVE me some Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, CCR, Dee-lite, Chicago, Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam, Selena (and not just because of the movie), Debbie Gibson, Mariah Carey, and ME TOO on the Xanadu Soundtrack, um...Extreme, RATT, the GO-GO's (oh hells yeah!), Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra for sure...Rick Springfield (if you know how many 'never released as singles' songs I know all the words to, you'd die), Corey Hart (know all the words to the entire first album...still. hahaha)
see? no shame. ;)

SJ - OMG I read your comment right before I went to sleep last night and had that Kids Incorporated theme song stuck in my head. Was that the show where they danced around the town then did like one performance on stage? And I totally forgot all about Martika!
Mr. Snackie, my honey hubby - I love you but am cursing you because I have MmmmmBop stuck in my head now, thanks.
T2ED - Man, I always thought Samantha Fox was too cool; I so wanted to look that hot and slutty ;). And ABBA is not something I have on my playlist but if I hear it somewhere, I am the first one to start singing along, LOL.
Kel- We like the cars, the cars that go boom....haha, I totally forgot about that. See, I am not embarassed to admit that I love all things from my "youth". My BFF at the time and I used to have a huge crush on Kip Winger, which goes against everything a Metallica fand stands for but if it was wrong, I did not want to be right!
Posted by: Hilly | Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 09:00 AM
See, I forgot Winger on the list, but as I live and breathe, I am sitting here looking at a mix cd called Hairband Extravaganza and you KNOW that "Headed For a Heartbreak"...omg what about Slaughter> hahaha "Fly To The Angels"... it's on the cd too!
Posted by: Kelli | Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 09:08 AM
that didn't make sense...left out words...fixing:

Yeah, that was "Kids Incorporated." And in case you didn't already know this, remember cute little Stacy on there? She is now Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas. No effing shit.
